j0032 #UX5, VF, bearing a VF-XF strike of Leavitt rectilinear NEW YORK. MAR. 7.78 4.30 P.M. postmark with 8-bar oval numeral 31 killer (Payne type AB-NY, LRU March 25, 1878). Reverse has illustrated advertisement for "Rubber Cushioned Axle".  Payne's value guide gives this usage a "G" designation, very scarce, $150-$250 estimate. A nice example of this machine killer. $150
9014 #UX5, VF illustrated advertising postal card for boots, canceled by a VF+ strike of Payne type B-CHI(2) numeral "2" ellipse killer with "CHICAGO ILL. JUN 17 79 8 P M" postmark.  Payne notes that well struck examples such as this are scarce and most desirable. $125
9015 #UX8, VF, canceled by a fine, clear example of Payne type CT-WASH with JAN 18 (1886) 10 PM postmark.  Payne, p. 208, illustrates the then latest reported use, a similar card postmark just 3 hours earlier than this card, making the offered card a new latest reported use. $50

9016 #UX5, VF, canceled by Payne type Boston A-3, Die II JAN 22.78 8 P.M. postmark, a printed response card for Arctic Soda Apparatus.  Scarce type, the circled "C" killer only used in Boston. $40

7970 #184, fine, sound, tied on #UX5 by rare Leavitt LOUISVILLE, KY, AUG 4 79 postmark and ellipse killer (Payne B-LOU(D), rarity H, $300-500) on remailed mutual benefit association response card (reverse side).  The card actually has two examples of this rare postmark and ellipse.  An earlier JUL 24 79 strike is visible from when the card was originally mailed to notify the association member of his assessment.  The card has an unobtrusive resealed spindle hole just to the right of the adhesive.  A very interesting and showy example of a rare Leavitt machine killer. 8068 #UX7, VF, remailed Masonic Life Assoc. printed member notification and receipt card (reverse side) with fine, sound #206 pair canceled by fine JUL 7, 1885 BUFFALO, NY ellipse Leavitt B-BUF(C) machine killer. Interesting usage. $15
