opened at right, bearing a superb detailed strike of a dragon
killer with NORTHAMPTON MASS. MAR 31 postmark on Overseers of
the Poor preprinted envelope. Less detailed strikes of this killer
have typically been referred to as a "swan" (Cole Bi-26, Whitfield
489). The offered cover, which bears a complete strike showing
the tail and horn of the dragon, was documented in the USCC
NEWS May 2007 issue #263, p. 99 and has a clean
APEX certificate attesting to the
"dragon" designation. Great fancy cancel! |

Office of County Commissioner to New Hampshire. Extremely
attractive and unusual late 19th century 8¢ registry rate cover
from western state. |

Plymouth County 1846-1940 when town became "Hanson") and two XF
simplex strikes of very unusual killer consisting of letter "E"
extending into a square "spiral" (Whitfield 5647) on VF
intact cover to Boston, MA (purple oval registry receiver on
back). Joshua E. Josselyn was postmaster 1881-1901. Cover with a few
tears on reverse. Scarce registered mail with attractive fancy
killer. |

cut at left. An absolutely fabulous Maine town name killer, the
likes of which I have never before encountered. WOW! |

Cole STC-101, unattributed) with UNIONVILLE, MO. SEP 27 1882

wonderful, striking and highly complex star fancy cancel, obviously
rare. This cover was originally illustrated in
FEB 2006 USCC NEWS 258 ("Seeing Stars", pp. 14-15). |

tied by WASHINGTON, D.C., DEC 2, 97 postmark and ellipse killer on
VF intact Department of State penalty envelope to Germany. Blue
"DEPARTMENT OF STATE, WASHINGTON corner and PENALTY FOR PRIVATE USE
$300". Cover mailed to "Almanach de Gotha", a directory of Europe's
royalty and higher nobility, also including the major governmental,
military and diplomatic corps, as well as statistical data by
country. GOTHA 13.12.97 receiver on reverse. Very scarce use of a
high value stamp on official penalty mail sent abroad. |

reverse. Unusual in that the card lacks postmark. This
spectacular town-name killer is unlisted in major references. |
