9659 #116, F-VF, sound, tied by a VF strike of NYFM cross-roads killer (Kirke 63-09-12-WG), red "NEW YORK PAID ALL DIRECT APR" exchange office postmark and boxed BREMEN FRANCO 1870 receiver, on VF intact cover to Cologne, Prussia (Germany), Coeln back stamp. $250
9524 #179, F-VF+, sound, tied by NEW YORK OCT 7 78 postmark and foreign mail ellipse killer on VF unreduced cover, neatly opened at top, with preprinted address to John D. Philbrick, United States Section of Education, Universal Exposition, Paris, France. Cover front bears blue double ring ETATS-UNIS V. ANGL. PARIS receiver and clear strike of "YALE LOCK MAN'FG. CO., CENTENNIAL MODEL POST OFFICE, STAMFORD, CT." hand stamp and duplexed target killer.  This Yale Lock cancel (Bomar P78-02, only 4 known), applied to the envelope upon receipt at the Exposition model post office, was probably created for use at the Yale Exhibit at the Centennial, but no such use has been reported. Cover is backstamped with partial strike of French "Exposition Universelle/Postes & Telegraphe" double circle Exposition postmark. A wonderful cover and one of the great Exposition rarities. 2012 PFC. $550

9059 #234, F-VF sound 5¢ Columbian tied by Washington DC APR 15 93 postmark and ellipse killer on intact Post Office Department Dead Letter Office cover to England, sent to Baring Bros., London and forwarded.  Cover bears three receivers, a black "26 APR 93 R" on front, a red "27 APR 93 AK" and LONDON-W.W APR 27 93 P" on back.  Foreign destination usages of Columbian issue stamps on penalty mail abroad are quite scarce.  Cover wrinkled at right. MAY 27 (1880) postmark (DPO Franklin County 1879-90, R3 scarcity) on intact cover to England (OUNDLE JU 9 80 receiver and paper tape repair on back).  Ewing College began as a Baptist high school, offering college work 1874-1925, when it closed.  It is likely that the Ewing, IL postmaster also served as postmaster for the college. $25
